2) Aurhor's purpose- What the writer's trying to accomplish through the work.
The author's purpose for writing "What Happened to Cass McBride" was to enertain the reader. This fictional novel in a way tied to an event Gail Giles, the author experienced while in her Alaskan residence. Ms.Gile was inspired to write this novel after she was snowbound, trapped in her home due to an enormous amount of snow. She proclaimed she felt "entombed," buried alive, having gone through such an event she decided to write a book that in way described how it might feel to be buried alive.
3) Author's Point of View- The view point from which the novel was writen.
The author wrote this story in a first person point of view. Three characters stated their views in the story. As different events occured each character proclaimed their experience throughout their own chapters. Kyle, the older brother of David ; a social loser who committed suicide, explains how he wanted to do all in his power to avenge his bother's death. Cass, a smart, popular girl rejected David the day before he committed suicide. She describes the experience she underwent after being Kyle's main suspect of David;s death, the reason to why he ended his life. Ben, the main detective on Cass's Amber case, her kidnapping describes all he and his partners went through while on hte case. Through these characters wrote of experiences that occured in past tense and present tense. Her method made the novel mysterious and addicting. No reader may have ever predicted that Cass would end up alive after she was thought dead in present tense. Later on it turned out she had not been found yet, and as lucky as she was to have been found she slowly began the path to recovery.
