4) Main Idea: The most important point of a story.

David Kirby hung himself from the tree of his front lawn. By doing so the day after he was harshly rejected by Cass McBride David’s brother Kyle kidnapped Cass the night of his brother’s funeral. He decided to take it upon his own hands to make Cass pay for David’s death. Kyle buried Cass while she was still alive. He duct-taped a walkie talkie to her right hand to be able to communicate with her. His goal was to torture Cass, to make sure she was aware of the reasons for which he punished her. Kyle wanted Cass to feel miserable to let agony eventually kill her as it did to David. As strong as she was Cass could not hide herself from the truth of the matters. She knew she wrote the note David found saying she thought he was gay, a nobody, that she could not believe he tried to walk on her turf and ask her out. Yet, after learning of all the torture Kyle’s mother put David through she figured he did not hang himself because of her, but because of his mom. Kyle’s mother did not cook for David she constantly followed him around to nag about how much of an embarrassment he was, a loser, a total dweeb. She would complain about his grades, yet never give him quiet time to study. She mad his life a living hell. Making Kyle recognize the truth came tough for Cass. She was dehydrated and barely able to speak. Her father’s lessons of sales management helped her lead him to the reality of what really happened with David. Cass talked her way out of the grave. She was found shortly after when officers found Kyle trying to hang his mother. Cass was told she died in the wooden casket. She actually did, she no longer felt like the smart, popular, girl that wanted to be Homecoming Queen. She no longer felt like speaking to nobody, after all her mouth opened the doors to the horrid experience of being buried alive.
