Cass and Mrs. Kirby are both similar in that they both believed David Kirby was a dork, a loser, and needy. They both were popular in school. Both ladies are cruel, they find pleasure in putting others down. Mrs. Kirby and Cass were both pictures in their school newspapers when they were in school. Both Mrs. Kirby and Cass dated boys to benfit their well-being and social status not because of passion or true love.
Contrast: To show the differences of two or more things when compared.
Cass is a smart girl, she gets good grades. When Mrs. Kirby was in highschool she passed with C's and D's. She never payed attention in class. Mrs. Kirby was a cheerleader in high school. Cass was in student governement. Cass allowed inly the boys that were the captain of an athletic team to date her. Mrs. Kirby dated Mr. Kirby because she thought he would become a doctor. Mrs. Kirby wanted to have the luxury life of a doctor's wife but she lives in an average residential home. Cass's dad earns good money as a sales man. Cass lives in a gated community where the houses are huje and elegant.
10) Cause: The motive for an action
David hung himself the day after Cass rejected him. She had told him no to his face when he approached her and asked her out to the movies or miniature golf. And when they went to English class she wrote a note. It said "dorky David Kirby asked me out. What made him think he could dare ask me? Can you imagine? How far down the food chain would he have to go for a date? God, I thought he was gay." Cass left the note on her desk thinking her friend Erica would get it when she sat down next block. She was wrong. David stepped up to her desk just about when she was going to leave the class and picked up the note. The next morning all over the school rumors of David Kirby committing suicide filled the halls.
Effect: The result of an action
Kyle decided to bury Cass. So that she may pay the price for rejecting his brother in such a harsh way. He wanted to torture her like she tortured his brother. David had enough pain in his life to receive such cruel treatment from a cruel, worthless girl like Cass. Burying her alive in the greenhouse of one of the people he mows lawns for was a perfect idea. Kyle could talk to her torture her a bit, let her know why she deserved every bit of hell she received.
